These regal Louis XVI style chairs were already stripped to the frame when I found them. I decided to keep the original glaze, nicks and all, to ensure the character of the chairs remained intact. The gorgeous floral fabric on the back of the chairs was originally vintage custom curtains. An interesting aside, the cabbage rose, which is one of the flowers in this fabric, was also in Marie Antoinette’s garden at Versailles! The upholstery fabric on the seat is a robin’s egg blue that picks up on the same colour blue in the floral fabric. The chairs are finished with a custom double piping trim which gives a beautiful and professional look. You will not find the same floral pattern repeated twice making each chair unique. A feast for the eyes! If you go to this blog post you can read how the chairs were acquired, and this blog post to read more about them and watch a fun video of the chairs marching to the dining room!
